Hi all, I've decided it would be better to start with a new, complete wiring harness in my '59 TR3 rather than try to chase badly re-done wiring runs.

Advice as to which company has the best complete harness - also any tips for when I do the r&r?

I am going to get my new wiring harness for the TR250 from Dan Masters. You get a litter better quality for about the same price. I did get a Moss harness for my TR3 and have had no issues.
 
To save a few dollars, I've purchased a couple of harnesses from Rimmer Brothers in the UK - even with shipping they were $50-$100 less than what I could find from the US suppliers at the time. And the quality was just fine.
 
Bought mine from TRF. Haven't installed it yet but I used a harness from TRF for my TR6 restoration and that worked out well.

With regards to the Advance Auto Wire (Dan Masters) harness, although about the same price, and of better quality then the OE style from various vendors, it is a lot more work to install, and of course, does not look like an original harness.

If you don't mind doing the work, and aren't into originality, it's probably the best way to go. It's the route I chose.
 
I have sent two wiring harnesses (at different times) to Rhode Island Wiring to have them put on new cotton outer sheath. One was for a TR3A I was restoring and the other one was for y own 1958 TR3A. I used a sharp blade and removed all the tattered outer cotton but left the inner clips in place. They added extra wires for my electric fan, back-up light etc. They also replaced all the wires where the vinyl isulation had gotten brittle. They kept to the original wire colours. It cost a bit less than a completely new harness.
