still waiting for pistons...

while i'm doing nothing else i was thinking about suspension einforcements - since i just paid a lot to get the back boxed in and the engine is out.

anyone put the secondary reinforcements across the front? not the extra vertical 1/4 rounds that come on the 72+ frame, but the other horizontal pieces that tie the lower a arms to the frame?

worth the cost?

if you mean the horizontal piece that connects the front lower a-arm mount to the steering rack mount then yes, i have done this. i had a bare frame to work with so did everything. see photo

That's exactly the bit I mean. The engine is out, so I could have it done without too much aggravation now. Is it worth it though or am I just looking for stuff to do?
 
Alan, any updates on the rear axle?. just curious---what is this place you are using---machine shop, drive line shop or other?
 
Now is the ideal time to do it. I can't quantify the benefit but it is a recommended upgrade in numerous publications. It should add strength to the suspension mounts and also rigidity to the steering rack mount. Two pieces of 1/8inch steel cut to form and welded....done.
 
ROger Williams recommends this in his book.
If anyone is going to the Amelia Island Concours event they might have the Group 44 TR6 available. I believe the owner of th TR6 is Bill Warner. He is the coordinator of this show. It would be very interesting to have a bunch of pictures of the car, it's chassis and other modifications.
 
I checked with the folks at the Amelia Island event. Bill Warner is not displaying any cars this year. I requested a list of possible events where he will ace the Group 44 TR6 but did not receive anything in their reply. I'm sure they are busy preparing for the concours.
 
ALLAN - I got a cad from the guy today along with the specs for the CV joint he chose. I need to clear up a couple of questions I have with him, and then he's ready to start fabrication.

If you do a search you'll see the name of the shop in one of the series that went back and forth. He specialises in CV axles.

Alan, man you really made me work for this one---Ok, so the name is "Constant Velocity of Ocala Inc.", in Florida. From the looks of the company Bio he is very qualified and experienced. Looking through the old post on this I saw you mentioned wheel stud size, IM hoping the stud size will remain optional--any thoughts on this.
