New water pumps on the market

I tried a pusher fan for a while. had it mounted to a switch. i did not notice any change when on or off. Now i will say this was before i went to the modern radiator core i have installed now. it may work better now.

there was also a question about a pusher fan helping or hurting at speed so i did not bother to put it back in.

Still have it up there on the shelf so maybe i will try it. just have to remove all the ducting.. plus get the brackets back in.. plus.. oh well got some time right now for sure.

seems like we have wondered off the original point. sorry Phil.

AS a follow up to this original post...

i went on a trip today with some other British cars. at one point we took a tour thru town. all the way over, and it was cool today, the car ran really cool. barely reached my 160 thermostat. (as well as the way home) Anyway while going thru town, a small town, we were basically idling thru. as i idle my temp starts to rise... 170, 180, 190, 200.

last week i went ahead and put my 13" SPAL electric fan back in and wired it to a switch. had never used it with this radiator core so thought it was a good chance to see how it helps. So as the car reached 190, i switched on the fan. Maybe it helped... maybe it slowed the climb to 200... hard to say. but one thing is for sure, it did not level the temp out.

Yes, i have put a panel in over the radiator to stop air from recirculating around. Really don't think that is the issue.

Again, if i speed the engine up to 1200 RPM, the temp levels out and goes back down. Fan on or fan off does not matter. So i think my issue is coolant flow at idle.

Got me to thinking... i have one of the County brand pumps. it seems they have a questionable reputation. Can it be their quality control is such that this pump does not move enough coolant at idle speed? tolerances too great? can one County pump be different than the next one? with maybe one pump better made than the next one on the line?

What happens with a worn pump? does it act the same way?

which brings me back to the original post here. are the new AH Spares pumps better designed and better quality? Do they move more coolant that a County pump?

i have sent an email to AH Spares asking them for advice. i also sent one to Dennis Welch to see if they have any suggestions.

i am convinced if i could move more coolant at idle, i would not have an issue.

Drone, I would be interested in replies as I installed a Count pump about 2 yrs ago and am hearing a squeaking brg when I s started the engine today.

Will let you know if i hear back.

Do you have the same issue at idle RPM?

Capt
here is what o got so far...

From Welch
They emailed back to ask me some questions about my setup. Also suggested trying their 5 blade fan.

From AH Spares
They told me i could try one of their new pumps to see if it would help and sent me the advertisement for it. they also suggested their 5 blade fan.

Hoping to hear more back from them. Replied to both of them.

Welch, i answered the questions.

AH Spares, told them i had already figured out i could try their new pump. Was hoping for some more supportive info.

All i got for now. sorry.
