New VTO wheels here and ready for shipment !!!!!!

Re: New VTO wheels here and ready for shipment !!!

Looks cool, and picture don't do black wheel justice, they always look even better in real life.

Looks like you have plenty of clearence, what tire size are you running? Also, how is clearence on the steering arms/outer tie rods ends at the front?

Re: New VTO wheels here and ready for shipment !!!

I have on the same tires that I had with stock wheels. New tires should arrive this week. They're 175/70 13s. In the rear they clear the springs by less than 1/4". In the front..... Well, my tire guy asked me if I wanted tape weights. I said sure, but I've seen racers who've used them have clearance issues with that exact point, the steering arm/tie rod, so I warned him of the limited clearance there. Sure enough, he put the weights right were it's natural to put them, and when we tried the wheels on, the weights hit. That means the clearance is less than 1/8". It's never a problem because the wheel of course moves with the steering arm stuff so it can't hit the wheel, but I had the weights moved up onto the rim. Who's gonna ever see the backside anyway?

And you're correct about pictures. The wheels look even better in person, though the car looks worse as it's really a 10 footer.

Yep, on Spridgets and MGBs you have to move the tape on weight inboard a bit on the inside, on race car we could care less where they are at, inside/outside, but on the street cars, most folks want tape on weight to the inside.

Hey folks, last day for the free shipping special, you guys have responded in a big way to our new VTO product and I would like to thank you all for your support, thank you!

Re: New VTO wheels here and ready for shipment !!!

It is a shame that you could not produce a 14" wheel for the spridget. I understand your explanation and why it would be a risky business move. However, I think there are many people with 13" alloys that would consider buying a new alloy set if there was a quality 14" option available. (Just mentioning it in case the the Boss asks for anyones opinions.)

BTW, I mentioned the VTO wheels and ACMESPeedShop in our local club newsletter.

Re: New VTO wheels here and ready for shipment !!!

I got the new tires (Sumitommo HTR 200s). The wheel and tire combo is so good that the total weight to balance was 1/2 ounce. That's the total for all FOUR wheels, all of it on one, the other three taking NO WEIGHTS whatsoever. How cool is that.

My car has had what I thought was a harmonic shudder at about 50 mph since I bought it. I've had different tires and moved wheels around and it never went away, so I thought it was the inline 4 engine harmonic. ... It's gone now!

With the new springs from this spring, and the new tires and wheels, it's as smooth as a new car running down the road. What a delight!

Thanks Trevor, we're still study hard the 14" wheel option for the Midget, it not a dead horse yet.
