Those look fantastic! I should get a set! Then get a 7 to put them on!

Those are going to sell well I think. Now if I could just convince you to make them in 15x5.5...

Why would you want to put 5.5 when 6 is available?

They'll fit under your fenders, you just have run something wider than those skinny tires you love, which might be good thing in a corner :smile: We'll make the 15x6s in 3.58" backspacing which is the normal Triumph offset, and then 4.5" backspacing which is the normal MGB backspacing, those sizes will be ready in the fall.

Sorry but I still like skinny tires on these cars! And 5.5"s can accommodate them, but 6"s won't very well. I'm going to keep picking at Hap until maybe he softens up - I still think the market would be strong for them, particularly for the TR3/4 crowd.

Randy,

I'm with you on this as well. Plus the TR's go so great in the snow with skinny tires (although I think my days of driving the Triumphs in the snow are long gone now!).

Well when it's your only car, you don't have much choice.

My TR4A and my wife's old Spitfire saw quite a bit of snow driving back in the 1980's and thanks to the skinny tires and decent weight distribution, they actually did pretty well. I was sadly disappointed when we tried the same thing in the RX-7's and they didn't go worth a darn in snow!

I tell you what Randy, you get 30 of your friends commited with their credit cards and we'll make them. The larger of the bigger Triumph market is the TR6 and those guys want 15x6s and even 16x7s, TR6 is the #2 market, only behind MGBs. We're in the early stage of making all our sizes and we base what we have made on sales data, it's a bigger commitiment for us now that everything has to be made in prodcution runs of 100 units or more. We need to make what we know will sell, but if we have true commitiment (meaning, show me the money) we'll make anything you want, thats the same thing I told the Corvair racers about 13x10 wheels.

See that proves my exact point, I don't think there is market for making wheels so people can drive thier classic cars in the snow, call me crazy, but I'm not buying it
Here's the average sterotype for a buyer wanting premium alloy wheels for their classic car.
The want a wider wheel/tire package that will fit within their original bodywork. They want this sort of package because it will make their car handle and ride better than a stock set up. They are a group who wants to drive their car, I mean really drive their cars, you know throw them in corner and expect this package to make the car grip and handle better. it not to say they will not show their cars, it's to say they more concerned with the handling driviing of their car than it factory original looks. Oh they are probably not going to buy their tires from Coker, they will be sporting modern grippy speed rated tires. I do have some customers who show on factory steelies, and then ride on a alloy wheels, this way you get the best of both worlds.

MUST NOT BUY! Have to think of budget(wife), must save money(wife),
Anybody need some original 80 tr8 rims, set of 5.

They are sharp,,,,,,,,

Hap-

I'll start asking around - I understand what you are saying on the TR6 market segment - its just bigger. But if the TR3/4 market segment is big enough, I doubt 6" or 7" is their first choice - it would be something like 5.5". If I knew how to do a poll of peoples choices on this board, I'd start one up right now!

Randy

Those look very nice Hap.

I know Hap has taken leap of faiths before on specific sizes only to find out they didn't sell, so having firm pre-orders seems like an eminently fair request.

Randy - maybe we could start a sign-up list or similar? Ideas?

I'm open for ideas. I'm also open to committing to a set of these as well!
