New Triumph durability / reliability

Hi guys, I spend most of my time here on the Healey forum but thought I would make a quick post here as I own a couple late(er) model Triumphs.

I rolled over 100K miles on my '97 T509 Speed Triple last weekend. The engine, transmission and clutch, etc are all as they left the factory except for the water pump that needed to be replaced around 60K miles...and that may have been my fault because I used automotive coolant once and it failed shortly after that. No other engine work has been done other than that and regular maintenance.

It leaks some oil but burns very little and runs and rides great. In all that time I have only been stuck once-by a fuel leak and they were recalled shortly after that for the issue and Triumph fixed it.

I've been thinking about a possible motorcycle for some time now and Triumph is very high up on my list of possibilities.
 
Thanks for sharing that. I had a 2007 Bonneville for a couple of years and loved it. Could easily wind up with another one. Had some trouble with the brake master cylinder (replaced under warranty), otherwise it ran flawlessly.
 
Triumph's reliability these days is second to none. I frequent the largest triumph forum and for the past 10 years their quality control has just been improving.
 
I remember when my dad got into bikes in the 70s, he said many bikes were pretty well worn out at 10K or so, not beynd repair, but maybe needing an engine rebuild or something major, knew they had gotten much better, but didn't know they lasted 100K! Maybe I need a two wheeler Triumph to match my 4 wheeler.
