Hi to all,

I just stumbled onto this forum doing a web search, and since you can never have too many sources of support for your LBC. I joined up.

I have owned my 72 TR6 for about 3 1/2 years. I bought Archie (Archie da Triumph) in the winter of 2011 from a guy in Tennessee who had a garage full of MGs, NASCAR vehicles, motorcycles, and my car. Since I brought him home to New England, I have gone through a laundry list of fixes and minor upgrades, including, but not limited to:
  • New top, tires, and exhaust
  • Replacement of almost all bushings
  • New fuel tank - 2 actually. The first one leaked, so I ended up with a beautiful aluminum tank. Expensive, but a thing of beauty.
  • Electric fuel pump and electric fan, Pertronix ignition
  • Swapped in an OD transmission
  • New steering wheel - I didn't fit under the stock wheel, so I got a 14" Moto-Lita from Rimmer Bros.
  • Miata seats, mounted 4" further back. Recovered in two-tone leather.
  • Halogen headlights.

The car has been in the body shop for the last two years (almost), following it being rear-ended while waiting for the car in front of me to turn left. I'm having a devil of a time getting the body man to finish up; insurance jobs on new cars are a priority. The work he's done so far is great, though, so I grit my teeth and wait (and wait and ...).

I finally decided I deserved a LBC after I retired and had some free time to enjoy it. I grew up near Watkins Glen, and as a kid I went to many races of all sorts at the track, starting in the early '50s. I can still smell Castor Oil burning.

Hi There ArchiesDad,

"Welcome Back" to the Wonderful World of LBCs.

I too used to have a `72 & `73 TR6 both with OD.

"WHEN" you get your car back from the body shop (Hopefully Soon); Post some pics in the "Triumph" Forum.

Enjoy your Retirement & Your "New/Old" car.

Regards, Russ
