New TR250 Owner

Greetings to all, my name is Christopher and I am new to the forum. I have a Green TR250 that my dad bought new back in 1968 in Arlington, VA. I feel like I spent half my childhood helping him work on the car, which he named "Tommy." Naturally, when he passed recently he left it to me to take care of. I am excited about owning it and keeping his legacy alive. I will be showing it at British on the Green in April in Lorton, VA. I am looking for a set of four rostyle hubcaps to help bring it up to show quality.

Welcome, Christopher!

Tommy, huh? After the Who's "Tommy"?

Great story you'll be able to pass along there!

Mickey

I am not sure why he chose the name "Tommy." But, when he bought it the girl he was dating wanted him to name it after her. Since he expected to have the car longer than the girl he went with a more masculine name.

Good stuff!

Welcome aboard, sorry I don't have any rostyle hubcaps, in fact their rarity and expense is part of the reason I decided to go with alloys on mine. Great story with the car, wish mine were BRG, but it started out red, so it stayed that way, keep us posted on the progress, show us some pictures!

Glemon,

That is a good looking car you have, that red color is sharp. I've thought about getting a set of alloys, but I really want to try to keep it stock for as long as possible. I've found the hub caps and will be getting them shortly so I can show the car at Brittain on the Green in April here in VA. I'll do a post about cleaning and prepping them for paint as well as before and after pictures. In the meantime there is a photo of my dad in Tommy (with hubcaps) in my signature.

OK, here are a couple of photos. One of the Mrs. and I out for a drive and the other is at my dad's funeral. My brother and I drove his ashes to the cemetery in Tommy, we lucked into some good weather for early November.

Looks good, if I had a car as original as yours looks to be I would try to keep it that way too, the green looks just like the "Triumph Racing Green" I had on my old TR4A, really like the color, glad you could find a decent set of hubcaps, not always easy to do.

Welcome to the BCF! I had planned to go to Brits on the Green this year, but something else is going on the same day... Maybe next year. Good luck!
