OK, first I assume this is about as much fun as installing the windshield..got it.
Question...
Where do you recommend we begin. We have it all snapped into place across the back.
Should I glue the strip across the back to the frame before I stretch it, or wait and attach that after attaching to the front?
Any hints?
 
Have you allowed it to warm up & do its own stretching? I roll cars out in the sun with everything snapped & let them sit until the top is warm to touch....then, making sure top is centered on car, I glue to header & let sit unttil glue good & dry....once its out in the sun & warms up, you can stretch it again....not doing so will result in wrinkles in top later on.

This is obviously an OLD part of the BCF and I don't think You can get there from here. It is dated 2007 and the articles are older. (2006-2007) But there is still some great stuff in there!
 
MEASURE the front of the top, seam to seam and chalk mark the center, BTW.

And putting the frame up and in place but NOT gluing until you have good stretch to the front rail (sunlight works best) is the way we fit 'em.

Yup. I use Weldwood Contact Adhesive for glue, BTW. Not th' "environmentally friendly" stuff, rather th' smelly industrial grade.
 
I just use whatever spray adhesive I happen to have on the shelf......don't forget about glueing the top to the frame bar above the rear window....there's 2 pieces of material that you loop around the bar.
 
AFTER ya have the thing well tensioned.

Oh!! And it's NOTHING like a windshield install in level of difficulty. Kinda theraputic, morelike. :wink:
 
Actually one of the easiest things to do on an MGB....
