Hey there. I've been into triumphs since I was 17. Have a restored tr6 that was my first triumph and now have 2 spitfire race cars. One is a 1500 the other a mk3. The mk3 is a project an the 1500 is the current car, but I guess still a project.

Currently live just south of indianapolis

Welcome to the BCF!

Hi There Aaron,

"Welcome" to "THEE" best LBC site anywhere.

Introduce Yourself & "ALL" Your Triumphs to the "Triumph" section & "Racing" section. Of course; We`d love to see some pics of Your TR6.

Happy Motoring,

Russ

The 1500 runs to the Limited Prep H-Production rules. Limited to 11:1 compression and .450" valve lift. Redline is a conservative 7300, but shifting mostly happens right at 7k. It's got some JE custom piston, and a stock crank which has been significantly lightened by moldex. Rods are stock rods but lightened, peened, polished etc...

I will head over to the Triumph and Racing section..

Wow, that sounds like a really impressive redline for stock rods and a stock crank. I never took my road car above 4000 due to detonation warnings...

I raced the black car at Road America Twice this year. Once at the Cat National (was early july I think) and the second was at the runoffs this year on way to my 8th place finish ( a good finish, but disappointed due to some technical issues)

With a bit o work the 1500 is a good motor. Lots of toque!!!!

Welcome Aaron!

I raced a 1500 Midget for years with few problems. If you watch rod bearings and keep an eye on thrust washers (especially on street cars) it's a decent engine with good porting.
My 1500 was mostly stock and not balanced. It ran 9.5 compression with a fast road cam and big carb (mostly in vintage). If I kept things under 6000 (with an occasional burst slightly higher) things were fine.

The 1500 also didn't leak oil as much as my current 1275.

Check out our Racing Section here at BCF too.

Welcome.
