Hi, new guy here. My moniker, PFK1006 is a combo of my initials and my last LBC. my first car in high school was a 61 white bugeye I bought from a friend that just got his draft notice and he was going to Nam. I kept the car for 1 week before it was totaled by a dump truck backing into it while parked. that was replaced by a more modern version, a 62 red midget. Loved that car and still wished I kept it. Drove it through my senior year of high school. being young and reckless, I beat the heck out of it. Going away to college, I thought I needed something more dependable, so I bought a new 70 VW bug, red of course. That got me to and from college without any issues, but I still wanted something fun. Bought a Yamaha 350 twin bike. learned how to ride the bike and after 6 months traded up for a 650 triumph bonneville. college tuition and rent forced me to sell it, hated to see it go. Well, in 74 I graduated and traded in the bug on a BRG MGB. Taught my wife how to drive in my bug, being A stick, I parked it on a hill in a parking lot, and told her to get up the hill. She did it first try. her grand mom gifted he a Datsun with an auto, which she traded in on a new triumph TR6, as she really like the stick. Life and kids saw us both give up our LBCs for company cars and Volvo wagons. But my wife surprised me for my 35th bday, with a restored 100-6 we had seen at a British car event. We kept that for about 10 years, but hardly drove it. The sound Of a big healey is a one of a kind thing, and how it pulls you through the gears is invigorating. It still is in my opinion the most beautiful car ever made. in 2005 I took a job that had a 40 mile commute, one way, all backroads. my Volvo was comfortable and safe, but the twisting roads just screamed sports car. although I looked at several MGBs and a Jensen healey, I couldn’t bring myself to rack up that many miles on a classic car, so I bought a Miata. Still have it, it has been completely reliable and loads of fun the drive and tinker with. I work from home the past 3 years doing consulting so I only drive for fun and am now thinking I get me another LBC. for now I will be a lurker, reading about everyone’s trials and tribulations. A friend has a Miata NA that has a shot body, but a nice drivetrain. He’s trying to talk me into taking it and building a lotus 7 clone with the drivetrain. I had always talked about do one, but using a spridget engine, keeping it more traditional.
