Hi All,
I've newly entered the "MG" world.
My sister had one when I was a kid, and I've finally got one of my own.

She's a 1975 B, and I'm in the midst of a complete restoration.

Congrats on the new car! I am sorry to hear about it being misrepresented but at least the car found a good home. Such is the trouble with buying sight-unseen, on eBay or elsewhere. Cute web page you put together as well. Good luck on the project!

Welcome to the Forum! Your car is going to be sweet indeed. Great color you've chosen, too. I've always thought that MG's didn't have enough choices in the blue shades. What are you going to do for interior/top colors?

I'm in the middle of a restoration on a '73, and have picked a factory color, Black Tulip, which is a very deep purple, with a "Biscuit" interior and top. It's been a lot of fun to work on, and I'm actually getting close to its being roadworthy. The goal is late spring/early summer.

Keep us posted on your progress, and be sure to share experiences with us.

I sure was lucky to find the shop I did. So many bodyshops just laughed at me.
The guys doing the work now, are a Lexus collision shop,..I got to know them because my Boss' daughters keep crashing his car, and I keep having to get them to fix it. (I'm a private chef/house manager for a family)
Anyway,..the guys at this shop are awesome! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Heh! I got a good laugh making that page. Almost vomitted a few times too! I bought the MGA and the YB both sight-unseen. However I was lucky enough to have a friend near each car to look at them for me before purchasing. Plus I bought them from enthusiasts, not businesses. Sounds like you just got unlucky but as I always say, the lessons best learned are the hard ones. And boy have I been learned good! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Wow,..black tulip was one of the colors I'd considered.
I wasn't happy with the choices of blue,..though I almost went with Riviera Blue Metallic. My body guys brought me the Astral Blue Metallic,..and I think it's great. I was a bit torn,..I'd wanted to go authentic, but with all I'm doing to this car, I figure that it's OK to go with what I'll be more happy with /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm going Autumn Leaf inside,..not sure of the top yet,..right now I have 2 new black ones, a vinyl and a canvas. I'll probably use those for now.

Steve s- LOL,..I'm starting to learn! I thought the guy I bought her from, was an enthusiast. PFFFT! The engine is made up of pieces from like 5 different years MGB,.. and held together with spit and tissue paper /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif,..Thank God my mechanic had a '75 block to rebuild,..she'll have the right engine soon /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
Welcome to the best forum around! If you bought it on eBay, there's a buyer protection plan buried on the site somewhere. Although I didn't get ripped on mine (bought on eBay), the wife's '64 Beetle wasn't quite as represented. But, it turns out that it was worth what we paid anyway, so we didn't need to invoke it.

And, honestly, probably didn't pay more than I should have for her.
I had planned for there being more work needed than they said. I just think it's hysterical that every point they made in their description was soo dead wrong! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
In some ways, I'm glad that this project became so big,..it's given me a chance to tear the whole car down to the nuts and bolts, and put it back together properly, and with new parts. So, when the big work is done, I'll pretty much know the whole car , inside and out. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Looking good, though. It really is a blast seeing things come together. I'm waiting on some bits and pieces to come in so I can install the windshield and the dash. Then it's carpet and interior, suspension and brakes, and then a maiden voyage before the final details. Hopefully she'll be ready for the spring driving season. As this will be my wife's toy, I just hope she lets me drive it once in a while. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
