Just joined the forum and look forward to participating, looks like a lot of good info is available. I have a 1961 AH BT7 that I spent 3 1/2 years restoring. It has been done almost 3 1/2 years and I enjoy driving it and taking it to British car shows. It has been all over the state of Florida without incident and has proved to be very reliable. I am just starting a restoration of a 1973 Jensen Healey so will post on their forum also..RonS /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/england.gif

Hi Ron,

Welcome to the BCF Austin-Healey Forum. There is indeed a lot of good info available here thanks to "Basil" creating and operating the British Car Forum, and thanks to some true experts generously sharing their knowledge on it.

I have lived in Florida a couple of times myself (Tampa, 1985-88 and again 2000-2003), and there are several local Austin-Healey clubs there. If you haven't already joined the one nearest you, I highly recommend it. And of course I also highly recommend joining the Austin-Healey Club USA so you can get Austin-Healey Magazine! A clue to the club's website URL may be found in the British license plate image immediately after my signature...

Once again, welcome to the forum -- glad to have you aboard!

Welcome aboard...have you posted a picture of your Healey on this forum...love to see it...if next time you post just include it...

How...or why did you get into restoring a Healey?

Reid, thanks for the reply..I have been a member of AHCA for 7 years and am the past president of the Central Florida AHC and currently newsletter editor which we publish through the British Marque News. You may not believe this but my wife and I attended a British car picnic today and a gentlemen I had met earlier brought me all his old Healey Highlights and Austin Healey magazines from August 1975 to March/April 1990. I see you have been the editor since Sept. 1984 (the only issue I am missing)..Congrats on the long service. Your president Bill Emerson is a good Healey friend of mine, a photo of him, my wife and I and his old Silverstone hang in my office. I visited with him several weeks ago at the Tampa Bay AHC sponsored All British at Safety Harbor and he showed me his new Innocenti Sprite coupe he just got from Italy..He also gave me a copy of the 100S issue and you have the Healey Marque magazine beaten hands down in quality and content. I told Bill I would be joining if nothing more than to get the mag. By the way I really liked the cover shot on the November 1984 Healey Highlighs (Whip me! Beat Me!)..As soon as I figure out how to post pictures ( I am so computer illiterate) I will..In the meantime if you have the 2003 AHCA calendar the Healey is Mr. July, I believe Bill's Silverstone was May in the same calendar...Thanks again..RonS...

Henri, thanks for the welcome, you can see a number of comments I sent to Reid about my Healying, but the reason I got the Healey was because since I saw my first 100 as a teenager I have wanted a Big Healey..Started out with a Bugeye, 1098 Midget and 1275 Sprite before the kids came along, then after a long dry spell ran into an old friend and he got me back into the British car hobby with a TR6, which I loved but still wanted the Healey. 7 years ago sold the TR6 and bought a "needing total resoration" 61 BT7 with the proceeds from the TR6 sale..Many hours and dollars went into the frameoff and I am very proud of the results..Working on sending a picture, can't seem to meet the size requirements..RonS..
