Re: New to list

Ive made a very amateur attempt at photoshopping and if our moderator Reid would be so kind to attach photo's for me I would be forever grateful. Me thinks I need a mouse with a roller from Santa! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Argh, an' where might I find these scurvy photos, matey? OH... you mean it's not Talk Like A Pirate Day? Oh well... so where're the pics, dude?

Re: New to list

For those who do go bumperless....
Do most people cover the rear bracket holes? It looks like James's car may have additional lights placed there or is it a pair of red tow eyes?

Re: New to list

Ian

I've seen pics with what looks like an additional brake or turn lights and others with nothing. I don't mind the look of the Bugeye bumperettes either. It seems to be a more European thing to go without or we just like not to modify our cars! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/canpatriot.GIF

Put me down for I don't like the bumperets and the roll bar??? Well lets just say thats almost as bad as a Dautsun engine.

[/ QUOTE ]

If I remember correctly I believe that Datsun engine is virtually an exact copy of the Austin straight six found in a Healey

Bumperettes on the back look good - on the front??? not so good

One member out there recently did a perfect photoshop job to show a dark blue BJ8 - I've forgotten who it was. He could use the same photo to create the Ivory over Lobelia combo

It's a friend's car and he installed a set of brake lights there more in line with later Healey's having seperate turn and brake signals.

More typically, other people that have removed the rear bumpers use either big stainless washers or fabricated blanking plates with the standard grommets to cover the holes. I think I've even seen one that welded or brazed the holes up. Another alternative is to install a back-up/fog light.

Edited to add:

A line up of bumperless Healeys. The one on the right is white/blue with rear lights added, the middle white/black with wire wheels, the left one white with red interior. The two closest have black painted coverplates over the holes. Note the middle one has welded up the central holes for the License plate light and used two MG lights alongside the plate:

What makes the Mona Lisa's appearance so unusual is not the winsome smile--It is that she has no eyebrows.

Those look like eyebrows to me!!

Hey John,
You’ll probably be hearing from Rowan’s lawyer soon. Though I think he’s never looked more lovely. A two bagger fer sure. The security bear was a nice touch./ubbthreads/images/graemlins/pukeface.gif
