Hi All

Signing on for first time, I have a 1974 chrome bumper GT and will be posting a few questions, and will try to answer some also. First question:
The back end of my gt sits about 2 inches lower than the front. I know the shocks are leaking and need replaced, can the springs be that bad?
 
Hi Sparky - welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of useful info here. I have a 74 chrome bumper b as well. I had the same problem. The leaf springs had really flattened out over the years and at freeway speed the way the car reacted to bumps was scary. It really wanted to stumble and lane walk on me because of the springs. I replaced them and it made a huge difference. Increased handling a ton.

Welcome to the Forum...what ever happened to the party when we hit 3000??? did I miss it???

I have a 74B with the same symptoms. This winter, I rebuilt the front suspension...next winter,I will do the rear. The shocks have nothing to do with ride height. The springs are primarily what determine the height, as long as the rest of the suspension is solid.

The chrome bumpered cars had a little more "squat" to them to begin with. I am hoping that the rebuild on the front end will stop the lane banging on the terrible Pennsylvania interstates that I was having last year.
