Well I just wanted to drop in and introduce myself.
Car background:
I bought it from a guy locally who really had neglected the car for the past 4 years since he purchased it. The car is in decent looking driver shape. It has a paint job that was done a short while before the previous owner bought it. Most of body is in good shape. The floor boards were done in a way I woudl not consider great and I will likely rework them this winter or next and the lower sill on the drivers side has some issues and was done badly (makes no sense as the passanger side was replaced very well). The car runs pretty well but had a major exhaust leak that needs repair before is cna be driven much. I am currently working on the braking system which had some issues. The calipers were locked up and seemed to have some air in them. The bleeders were broken off and remaining bits were locked in and couldn't be removed so I ordered a remaned set of calipers Friday night which should be in late this coming week. Once those are on and I can drive the car a little I will be able to see what else I need to order up and get working on. I am in the process of repolishing and cleaning up all of the extremely neglected chrome which over all is working out very well aside from the mirrors that are bubbled and rusted badly. I plan on working a little into the car over the winter and hopefully having the car happily being driven on weekends next summer. I will likely lurk in the shadows here reading everything I can to best understand this little bugger so I can make keep it running and riding well. If the car is in good enough repair once I get into it I may do some very mild track runs with it just for fun.
A little background on myself:
I am a 25 year old Mechanical Engineer from the Metro Detroit area of Michigan. I bought the car becuase I need a project that isn't house realated since my wife and I just bought our house about 2 months ago and if I spend all my time working inside and not in the garage with a wrench in my hand i'll go crazy. I am a car guy at heart, I love them all and this car is planned to be cleaned up a little and made into a good fun times druiser/weekend driver. My wife has always loved the old spits so that is what made us go look at it, and we "needed" a convertible/toy car.
I hope to be here for a good long time as we will plan on having this car for a long time.
