I've had Jaguars and MGs in the past, so I'm not new to British automobiles, however I am new to the forum. Recently purchased a 1954 MGTF from an estate. It has a very straight (no rust) body and came with a complete uninstalled Moss interior ,top, etc. The problem is that in the distant past someone installed a 1600 MGA engine and transmission. The installation , however running, is a very haphazard accomplishment. Due to the amount of grease and grime, the car was driven for some time like this. I wouldn't trust it very far, if at all. Getting it sorted is going to be a challenge, but I recently retired and I'm up for a challenge. It was originally a 1250 and it might be easier (and more valuable) to restore to original configuration. Due to multiple long term storage issues, I haven't driven yet, although I did get it started and I think the engine is good. Most known needed parts for a test drive are on the way, So with greasy hands and a little blood, test drive should be soon (anybody with a donor 1250 engine and tranny , let me know) .
