?New Tires?

I have been looking for new wire wheels for my BN6 which has drum brakes. I found that Dayton has a 60 spoke with an offset, but during the process I was told that my Dunlop SP4N 165 SR 15 radials I wanted to transfer to the new wheels hadn't been made for 16 years and that was dangerous to continue to use them. This information came from what I believe is a reliable source.

My question is "What is a good replacement tire?"

I have heard about Kumho, Vredesteins, and now Pirelli. Only the Pirelli are a familiar name. I just don't know what has worked well for a Healey. Any help picking a tyre?

Kumho tyres are OK, have some on the front but like you, the rears need to be updated as they are ancient. Kumhos are no longer available on my side of the pond.
Vredestein are popular but I have no experience of them, like wise Pirelli

I just purchased a set of Kumho's from Tire Rack for $43 each and very pleased
with them. Have them shipped to one of their listed installers and real easy to deal with. Bought the 165/15's as kept my BN6 as original as possible and
still have the 48 spoke wheels.

A good replacement tire is the Verdesteins,

Pirelli s are suject to rot.

Vredestein are very good and have the correct 'look' if that is important for you. I had them on my car. You won't get them for $43 though!

Vredestein do grip the road well. I have the 185s and they are better than 165 for the corners. The one complaint is that they kick up road dirt onto the side of the car. I need a one inch mudflap!

The Verdesteins seem to be the preferred tires on the forum, I have been on their web site, but at about $130.00 and up per tire I have to look long and hard.
I was hoping for a tire less expensive, but I guess that's the price of tires these days.
