I am going to take advantage of the Moss Upholstery sale and order my seat covers. There is one question on my order. The fabric clips that hold the seat cover to the seat frame ("C" shaped clip) Anyone know how many of these clips are required? Do not want to rely on the POs work to get the number.

David

David,
They are called Hog Rings and kits of rings and pliers are available at most hardware stores.
As for the correct number, your guess is as good as mine.
If you are trying to compete in concourse judging, there should be an official guide.

David what car? On a Bugeye each seat used eight smaller clips to hold the vinyl to the base of the seat and six larger clips secure the vinyl to the back.

1974 Midget.

The Hog rings must be used on the older models. I had to use them on my 1961 TR3A.

I got 24 of the "C" shaped rings. Now I have i=to get the seats back together.

The photo shows Hog rings and pliers on the left and "C" rings on the right.

The seats or the complete car?

I am photographing the second seat rebuild because the instructions that came with the kit left something to be desired.

David

I am trying to get a good record of the seat covering as I work on the second seat. I have been taking photos of the rest of the car as I go but seems that I miss out important shots when I am referring back to my photos.

David

Got the second seat finished at last. It was more of a headache than the first because the seat back foam mold was offset by about 1 1/2". That is the depression for the seat frame was off center. Called Moss and they finally said some times the foam requires some trimming.
They both look good and I have the runners attached and the seats in plastic bags to protect them till I get them in the car.

I redid my seats on my '69. Not fun, but definitely the end product was worth the effort. Fun fact, the "C" clip also makes a good way to hold the choke cable open if the friction lock wears out, as it has twice for me.
