New saddle block arrived

As the new engine parts start to make their way here, I thought that I'd post a fix for a common TR6 engine issue. That would be the front saddle block and the stripped threads that normally accompany it if someone played gorilla putting things back together.

I ran into Marc Goldblatt in CT several years ago and we discussed the hobby and his fix. I bought one then for my TR6, since I was taking the pan off and I just got one for my new engine.

They fit perfectly and Marc ships promptly as long as he has inventory. If he doesn't, he tells you how soon to expect them in an accurate manner. If you are planning an overhaul, I suggest that you get one of these.

Yes indeedie - a great upgrade from Marc. And if that constant oil leak from the front of the engine is really driving you nuts, and you are willing to pull the radiator, steering rack, timing chain cover, timing chain and sprockets, front plate and drop the sump, you can change out the aluminium saddle block without pulling the engine. Ask me how I know! Dosn't leak now though (well...maybe just a wee bit!)

Paul - this is going to be a really nice engine when put together. Makes a chap envious!

Rob.

Thanks, Rob. I've taken all that I've learned here and from my previous mistakes over the years and will hopefully build a good engine.

Note that I did say: "If you are planning an overhaul"

I know that installing these is a lot of work. I did the previous one when the timing cover and pan was off. The new owner of my old engine will get a lot of goodies to go with it.

Paul, it looks as though I'll have to take some measurements from one of mine and write a CNC program for the mill at work!

Jeff,

That's exactly how it's being done now.

EDIT:

I meant to continue to type that I would never undercut Marc. He took the time to develop this service and I thank him for that.

Never type answers when the phone is ringing. DUHHHHHH.....
