My old daily-driver BMW 525i Wagon had quite a few problems, and had become unsafe to drive. Repairs were far more than the car was worth, and it would still have been rusty and needed new tires. So, it was time to finally move on.

I just picked up another BMW, a 330i Convertible of 2003 vintage with 65,000 miles. Comes with snow tires on separate alloy rims. Nice, clean car....

Still driving my 91 318 at 207K miles. I wish it was an estate, that would blow some minds...

How nice. Always thought E46's were among some of the prettiest BMW's ever built. They still turn my head.
 
Check for broken rear springs from time to time. Pretty much every E46 I service has had them break. Sometimes with no symptoms at all. Cheap from the dealer, and easy to change though. They are odd barrell shaped coils, and the lowest coil breaks off. Very un BMW like in my experience. (course it might say something about the condition of the roads in DC....) We just picked up a really clean E30 318I from a friend of our landlord. I was going to flip it for fun and profit, but with gas WAY over 4 bucks a gallon (and the Jag averaging 17 MPG) I may keep it.
