Hi Gents:

I spent last Saturday pulling the rear off an RX-7. I managed to find a rare GSL-SE model, and it was quite the pain to pull. A buddy and I resorted to the hacksaw method (with permission), and in the end, we won. I got for $80, which isn't too bad in my book. Obviously, I'll need to shorten it and get the hubs redrilled.

We're a young family, and summer seam to beat us up finacially: summer camps, mini vacations, vacations, blah, blah, blah. So it looks like I won't be able to buy the drivetrain as quickly as I'd like. Such is life...

what is the drivetrain that you are putting in? I can sympathize on the rear end. when I pulled mine out of an '84 gsl all I had was a set of sockets, pliers, and a pair of tin snips. What a bear!!

That really was a pain. I had a backpack full of tools and a helper. I could not imagine pulling it with limited tools

I was strongly considering the Miata drivetrain, but for now, it's going to be the Toyota 20-valve. I already started collecting some obscure parts, so I'm on my way.

BTW, I grew up in OKC and graduated from Price School of Business at OU. I'm running my se7en up at Hallett on the 28th.

Ive never been to hallett. perhaps I need to make the trip up there. I actually grew up in Ottumwa Iowa. Graduated from highschool at westmoore and went on to get my degree in architecture at OU.

What years were you at OU?
