New radio install?

I have another question related to the radio -- what are the radio blanking plates made of? Are they metal covered with trim or fiberboard covered with trim? As indicated above, the facia of the new radio is ever so slightly smaller than the old junker I pulled out, so I'd like to improve the looks and cover over the open spaces with some kind of trim arrangement, and it occured to me that a blanking plate could be the place to start. Any thoughts from the collective? Thanks as always! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
