Still trying to get the new Whitephrog back together so I insanely decided to buy a new project. https://tinyurl.com/dlyyvh

A buddy of mine and I are divvying up the car. He gets the 1275cc engine, ribbed case transmission and front disc brake setup for a Bugeye project car he purchased from me last fall. I get the remainder.

My intent is a 1966 Sprite/Bugeye conversion. I won't start on that for a while however. I already have a restored 1275cc engine and ribbed case transmission ready for that project.

We will sort thru the 1966 parts not necessary for the Bugeye conversion (gauges and dash for sure) and offer those for sale.

Probably need to tell the wife about this pretty soon.

Hmmm... I thought all that talk about the bugeye dash and custom bonnet was just winter time fantasizing.
 
Good find....get it up high in the air & make sure those floors were done correctly.
 
Wow, thats like 100 miles from my house. Looks good and with a good title and all. Thats in Morganton, the "crazy city". Called that because thats where the huge state mental institution is at.
Word has it they practice "catch and release" so don't dilly dally in that area too long :wink:

Brave is probably not the correct adjective Drew. I can think of a few others that relate to mental stability. We're picking it up in about ten days. The more I look at the photos the more things I find, a radio for instance. Not the 12,000 lbs of stuff that Dom recently bought but looking forward to the inventorying anyway.

The more I look at the photos, the more it looks as if the new floor pan installation might be suspect. The back lip doesn't appear to be welded to the bulk head. Thanks for the heads-up. We'll pick it up the week of the 23rd. I'll be able to give it a proper once over then. Buying on ebay w/o a visual inspection is always a roll of the dice.
 
Brought the 66 Sprite back from the snows of North Carolina yesterday. The car isn't as nice as I had hoped for nor is it nearly as bad as it might have been.

Lots of new metal (floor pans, trunk floor pans), new rear springs with all new spring supports stuff, new rear shocks and rebound straps. The rear clip in general is in nice shape. The doors look good and the windows roll up okay. The bonnet is especially nice.

There are several bothersome things, however. The car needs new inner and outer rockers. The front fenders are a bit rough. Some repair work within the engine compartment looks to be sub-par. Seats are non-Spridget seats. I'll post a photo to get some help in identifying them.

I'm in no particular rush on this project which will eventually be a Bugeye conversion. Plenty of time to get things right. Patience, however, is not one of my virtues.
