New Pit Bike

OK, not exactly a Brit-bike, but it's used in support of my Brit-car. Hey, I can't afford a giant motor home or diesel rig, but at least I have one little "extra" I can bring to the races in '07.

This is my "new" pit-bike with "outfit". I bought the scooter off of craigslist a while back for well under $200. It is in brand new condition and has electric start (as well as pull-start).

43cc of mighty torque. Well not exactly *mighty*, but I had some spare #35 chain, so I swapped out the drive sprockets for two (from Northern Tool) that bring the top speed down to around 18 mph (from almost 30 mph), so it will pull pretty good now. The pneumatic third wheel/tire came from Northern as well ($9).
All in all, I built the side-hack for about $35 (not including stuff I had on hand, such as the "grab handle" I got from a discarded Weed Wacker). It will carry a gas can, a spare tire, a tool box or a light-ish person.

*Now* back to working on the car. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/devilgrin.gif

Once ran from the water spigot behind the false grid to the pit lane at the Ledges carrying two large buckets of water... F-A car had blown a hose in the carousel and he limped it to the pit. Thought I was gonna die. After that there was a rethink about the practicality of a pit bike! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

Nice "add-ons" Nial!! Well done!

Not a bad little idea!

Now you & momma can go on trips around the paddock together.....hehehehe....little side car

& I suspect you'll find a niche market for it once you start taking it to the track! Plus, RV-ers could always use the mod for their little scooters (they all have them)

I recall seeing the "Crescent" photo before. Primarily because of the "COBRA" flag.
