Just a quick introduction of two new bn-4 owners. Miranda and Sjoerd, we are both from the Netherlands but live in Savannah,GA now. We just bought a 1957 bn-4 and are new to all of this. Our first succes story, we changed out the waterpump! Next thing is bleeding the brakes ( car sat in a storage box for the last 6 years), if we have questions we will ask, like i said we are new to this sort of stuff
 
Welcome to Georgia! While you're bleeding those brakes, pay close attention to the condition of the brake cylinders, both master and slave. As you probably know, standard brake fluid is hydroscopic, which means that it absorbs water from the atmosphere. That can cause rust in the critical parts of the braking system. Also, sitting around for six years has probably done no good for the rubber seals in the brake and other systems. I don't think any dollar well spent on renewing old brake systems is invested unwisely.
 
thanks for the reactions, i will try to attach a pic (miranda is better with computers). I see the brakes are a vital part for driving, so we will have to look carefully at the condition of the brakes.

When I bled the brakes out on my midget after it had sat for a good while, I found it beneficial to pull a good amount of extra fluid through the line when bleeding. Took a little bit longer, but serves to flush the line out, so to speak. after pumping new fluid through for a bit, it was coming out crystal clear. Not only that, but there was now zero chance of air in the system. It was an extra hour or so that I felt was worth it. So if your existing lines pass inspection, you may want to take a look. If you are replacing, no worries!
