I can't move the cable on the fan switch that opporates the flapper door on the heater box. I've been spraying the cable and working it for a couple of days but no joy.

Incase I can't get this switch working, does anyone have one they don't need? Send me a PM.

The switches are not obtainable.

The cable can be replaced, previous thread tells how.

Electric part can be taken apart and cleaned which is prob all it needs.

I did a search and did find any topics on fan switch repair. Got's a link?

I can turn my fan switch clockwise and counter clockwise. The volt meter shows the contacts are working, but I can't pull the cable in and out.

BTW: is the heater box flap closed when the cable knob is out or in?

There is a stop pin built into the switch body on the cable end that doesn't allow the cable to be pulled when the switch is in the "on" what's up with that?

Flap closed when knob is in.

Note how cable sheath fits into the back of the knob. Just slides into the housing.

So cut the present cable and sheeth off about one inch from the closest point to the switch.

Procure a choke cable kit from your friendly auto place.

now pull the sheath off/out.

now see how the cable goes into the switch it can be pushed in about an eigth inch and pried up through the wider part of the shaft. It has a ball crimped on the end.

installation is the reversal but the end of the cable can be turned into a small loop to prevent it from pulling out.

now you should have about 6 feet of new cable and sheeth on the switch.

Clear as mud right, if you spend more than 30 min you got it wrong.
