New Part Fit Frustration - Door Handles

Bought new door handles for my early BJ8 project from AHSpares. Same product number that I had bought for the previous project car 3 years ago. Now the new item does not fit.

I finally put the old vs new together and see the problem. The tab that pushes the latch for opening the door is 3/8 of an inch too long. See picture. Since it won't fit in the hole, they never could have tested the product. Poor quality control!
