Didn't Nissan (er... Datsun) do something similar in the 1990's with the 240Z? Selling some through dealers...
 
That's $15,000 for just the body,whereas Nissan was
selling completely rebuilt 240Z's for around $30,000.

IIRC, that is correct, rebuilt v.s brand new. If I had th cake, I'd be sportin' me a hot Stang 'vert. When you think about it, 15K isn't a bad deal. factor buy-in and all the prpe work and you could be in for a shock w/ the "real" deal.
 
About 10 to 15 years ago, someone did a survey of what it would cost to build a Mustang by buying the parts separately over the counter. The cost was astronomical! I think it was figured, you could buy three new ones from a dealer for the same cost. Today it would even be worse.
If someone had a donor car with all the parts, 15Gs is not that bad for a new body. I think a new MGB body is around 10,000 now and not near what the Mustang would be worth if done professionally. PJ

Though I wouldn't turn down a nice Mustang either. :smile:
 
I bought a new '65 Mustang and drove it off the showroom floor...$3,250.00 !!
