Hello All,
I have a 1969 MG Midget that I've owned for over 25 years. When I bought it it didn't run and needed a lot of work. At that time, I would have thought that after 25 yrs I would now have a pristine like new, old automobile. As always life has gotten in the way of that. After my last move the Midget was in storage for about 5 yrs and I am now back into it, fixing all the issues, many that storage has contributed too. My to do list is still growing. Drive it weekly on short drives.
Over the years my work experience includes farm equipment, construction equipment, trucks, plastics machinery. At home motorcycles, cars and boats.
Seems like the more you know about these cars the more you realize there is so much you don't know. My thought is that you don't learn nearly as much when everything is running well . (Although with the Midget that is not that often). When problems occur or you find the ones you didn't know about, you always learn something.
I have found a lot of good information over the years on this forum and am now happy to be a part of it. I hope I can continue to learn and contribute.

Welcome Jer! Good to have you on board. PJ :thumbsup2:

Lovely car - welcome. Sounds like there will be lots in your previous experience to help you here

Unless it was modified by a previous owner to look like a newer model, I’d say the car in the photo is a ‘70 or ‘71 model year.

Not sure if it was modified. It was built in December 1969, so does that make it a 1970 model year? And what is the difference that you noticed, 1969 to 1970?

Yes, a December ‘69 build would equate to a ‘70 model year car.

The differences between a ‘69 and ‘70 are too numerous for my fat fingers to explain on my phone.

I suggest you do a google image search for ‘69 MG Midget and a ‘70 MG Midget and the differences will become immediately identifiable. Either that or purchase Terry Horler’s book on the MG Midget.

just looking at your list you have/had, a Viva GT that#s what I have, not perfect but great fun surprising modern cars, I have a 2.3 engine mildly tuned but I think its the over drive that makes it, I have 3rd gear 3 1/2 gear 4 th & 5th engine is torquey enough to pull in 5th!
