I think this "Hot Rod" article sums it up pretty well. This article is what I've been relying on to make decisions. Shawn has a valid point, this concern may be overblown for a typical Triumph pushrod engine with a stock or near stock camshaft. I experienced a cam failure (due to poor lifters I believe) about the time you couldn't buy any decent lifters so I'm probably a little on the cautious side since then.
