New Motor?

So, according to that 1947 ad; the Allison engine made 1400HP out of a V12.
So I should expect my TR6 with half the cylinders to get say 700HP?

I wonder where all those left over war surplus engines went in the end, I'm sure some were adapted for use in post war commercial aviation but there must have been a lot of motors left over!

Come on there is room for only one V12 in a Triumph or any british car.....

Tractor pulling tractors. Fracing pumps for the oil industry. It is wondrous thing when you have 12 semitrailers each with 2 Allison engines driving pumps driving a mixture of water, acid, surfactant, and walnut shells into the well head fracturing the rock formations at the oil bearing depth. The operators had a hundred feet of wire to their consoles and were wearing ear plugs inside of their ear muffs with built in communications. My ears rang the next day, but it was worth it to see the well head whipping back and forth.

A good number were put to use in hydroplane boat racing. Allison powered "Slo-Mo-Shun IV" set a world speed record in 1950 (breaking the old record by almost 20 m.p.h.).

If you lived on Mercer Island in the 50's,60,s, and 70's you heard that sound all the time

What is it? Aston Martin? Jaguar? Merlin?

Jaguar V12 built by Group 44 for the XJ cars. Something ridiculous like 600 to 700 hp and dependable.

Sure... except one of those 12 cylinders is nearly as large displacementwise as your entire 6 cylinders combined. I know your tongue was in cheek though. :jester:
