Finalized the deal for the Midget today, and towed it home. My wife's truck (2002 Isuzu Rodeo Sport) actually pulled the car really well. Borrowed the seller's trailer, a really neat one he had made up for his racing Spitfire. Perfect size for a little car. The Midget is now tarp-covered at the side of the house, awaiting disassembly.

Didn't get the extra parts yet, so don't know what else is with the car. Seller has parts in a few places scattered about, so it will be a bit before I get hold of them and see what I have. Front suspensions seems to be in good shape, and the engine looks clean as well.

if all the bugeye nees is a bigger motor and better brakes, im with Fred.....id build it...would cost some money, but its a great start....shame to part it....
with that said...i could really use a clear windshield /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
 
Not to knock them, but the later Spridgets just don't do it for me like the Bugeye does. I wasn't really looking for an entire car, this one just sort of came along. Still haven't decided if I'll take the brakes/rear end, but the engine and transmission are why I bought the car in the first place. I've barely money for one LBC, 2 would break me! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'll have to check the windshield, but I think it was in decent shape.
 
Even if you do use the brakes, you should keep them just in case. The lower A-arms are also reinforced for a sway bar.
 
Fred, it's just nice that there is a Spridget for everybody! Had I the space and resources, I'd keep the Midget body for eventual use as a really hot road car. But I don't. Spridget parts, however, are small and easy to store. I'm sure I'll end up keeping as many bits as I can reuse on the Tunebug. Besides, teardown is fun! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
 
i understand completely ... most of my friends ask me if i am rebuilding a bugeye. when i say no, many don't even know what my car looks like. i have to tell them (with a slight frown), that it looks like a midget. i am also glad there are couple styles and options for everyone.
 
My preference (in terms of styling)
1. MKI Sprite
2. MKII Sprite
3. RWA Midget
4. MKIII Sprite
5. Rubber Bumper Midget
 
It's one of the things that attracted me to British cars in the first place. I used to really want an early Mustang, and enjoyed going to the local Mustang show, but in the end they were all the same car. The local British car show had all these strange, different cars. Wonderful!

I did almost buy a RHD 65 Sprite last year, and in hindsight I should have. Oh well, a good lesson learned...

i actually like the tub style of my 65 more than the 67 but the 67 was starter first to learn from. the 65 was intended to be restored to show but that might change. i will tell you that i really enjoy doing this regardless of the cost. i find this is great therapy for the sole. don't tell my wife, but i think she's coming around as well. as part of our 21st ann. she got me some gift certs for eastwood. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
