THE club for road racing in NM is SouthWest MotorSport. If anyone is in NM or a nearby state, we invite virtually everyone to participate in our club events. In our 11th or 12th year, we are a "genetlemen's" racing club and assess points to those who think rubbin = racin. In other words, safety, safety, etc.
We generally do the following groups: open wheel, vintage, contemp, lapper, student, kart. Very small groups may be combined. We usually race at NAPA Speedway just West of Albuquerque...used to be Sandia Speedway. Track is a 1.6 mile road course with 14 turns ranging from 2 slow hairpins to a 75 mph+ sweeper.
Schools usually done on Saturday of 2 day events. Schools allow street cars so they are NOT a full race school. Passing on front and back straight only, NO practice starts. Schools include about 3 hours of classroom instruction and 3 - 20 minute on track sessions. One unusual feature is we have an instructor ride with each student (assuming 2nd seat and belt).
If you know anyone who might be interested, hope you'll pass this post on, tell them about us, etc. This is also posted on the calendar!
