Hello everyone
I'm a petrol head who lives in Cape Town South Africa. Oddly enough I found out about this forum while researching on building a BMW 2002 racecar??? I have recently bought a Jaguar 3.4 MkII 1963 model which has been on stands for the last 25 years in a warehouse. The car is complete with only a little minor surface rust on the rear right fender. Its a matching numbers car I bought from a colleague with only a minor dent around the left front spotlight. I think the colour of the body is Sherwood green with green hide. I have known about the car for 20 years and actually saw the engine run many years ago when it was first put in storage. The car has 80,000 miles and was sold new in Zambia to my colleague's father who was therefore the only owner. When he passed away the car was put in storage and has been there ever since. The minor dent around the front spotlight was put on the car when the car was 2 days old by my colleague's mother much to the irritation of her husband I was told. By the way I'm also restoring a 1980 Porsche 911 SC and I'm busy with the building of a BMW 2002 race car to be raced by me in historic racing on our Killarney circuit in Cape Town. Although all this work as you can imagine keeps me quite busy I have a 33 year old son who is also very involved in the restorations. In February I'll be starting a full restoration on the Jag and want to document it in a blog and if possible I'd like to do it here. When I'm more at ease with navigating this site I'll post a few pics. Using the VIN and engine numbers I'd also like to trace authenticity, manufacturing date etc. Any idea where I could look those details up? Any help would be very welcome. Thank you to everyone who will give up their time in responding to my questions.

Hi There Mauro,

Happy New Year to All,

Mauro, welcome, nice find on the Jaguar, long time british car owner here, recently got a 2002 and love it, not racing it at this point, but will probably do some things to make it go a little faster as time goes on.
