New member and also a new owner of a 1973 MGB. In a prior life I had 2 Spitfires a 69 and a 76. So I finally come over from the dark side. Took delivery about a month ago and have been trying to get it up to speed ever since. Body, interior and under the hood looks good, but just can’t get it to run consistent….. and they laughed me out of my first emissions test in Delaware. Have a mechanic looking at it now, but I’m not sure he’s the right guy with the right experience. Cars located in South Delaware ….. near Bethany Beach….. I’ve been browsing this forum for several weeks and I’m very impressed with your knowledge and open exchange of ideas….. that’s pretty unique for this kind of forum. Any recommendations for how to find a more experienced garage in South

Nice looking ride.

Welcome to the best place to learn about LBC's and each marques individual idiosyncracies. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/savewave.gif

You never found a better place to learn about LBC's. I was also a former Triumph owner. Two TR6's and one TR7. I got my first MG this year after several years without an LBC and the amount of help I have gotten on this sight is amazing. No matter what problem you run into remember someone on this sight has "Been there and done that." /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Welcome, nice looking B.....When we say this is the best place for LBC help we mean it! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif

Welcome! The '73 is a nice car. I'm surprised that NJ (Delaware?) mandates emmisions testing for that year, but it just goes to show.... There are quite a few members on here from your neck of the woods and they can likely point you to some qualified shops. And by all means do join the NAMGBR. Loads of good info there.

Well there is well seasoned and over seasoned Doc.

Nice B, I like the color. Welcome.

Happy B'day there, Jack!

*ahem!* Are you "well" or "over" now? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/devilgrin.gif

Gesh Doc did you have to tell everyone, 68 today.

Would suggest you get the car up to NJ ASAP Get QQ plates ( takes a little time but worth it) once you have them then you are exempt from all testing, both mechanical and emissions. There a several good MG guys in NJ and I am sure you will get some recomendations. I start you off

Thanks for the welcome...... since this has turned in to a discussion of old age homes..... I really to want to bring the car back to NJ.... will be retiring to Delaware in about 2 years and would like to just title it there..... on a 73 they only do a basic emissions test and want no smoke..... should be able to get it there.... just talked to the garage and he may have it for me to try tomorrow...... let's hope.... once I know what's going on I'll be back with more questions for this elite but graying group...

'xcellent! Give 'er a shakedown cruise and report back. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
