I Just found this forum and I own 2 Jags. A Recently purchased '97 XK8 with only 31K miles and a 2003 XJ8 Sport. Have owned 1994 XJ-S and 1996 XJ6 previously.

Welcome to the forum, Bullitt! I used to own an XJ6 - what a great car on the highway! Now I just have the EType which I'm slowing trying to get back together.

Greetings! Glad I found BCF. Next project is to replace the original headers on my 68 E type (39,000 original miles - 3rd owner). Ordered the on-sale Falcon headers from XKs. I plan on using a "bucket" of penetrating oil to get the nuts off...may end up creating new combinations of old words if I break the bolts....any suggestions. Tnx.

Tnx Basil. With the '68 as you know, there is a 'heater tube" that goes from the exhaust to preheat the intake manifold...seems like the Fed's were much too awake at nite to come up with yet another required mod.
Long story - sorry. To the point, looks like I'll need a "blanking plate" to install on the intake manifold. Saw one a few years ago, looked like it had a raised contour -are there any channels or baffles on that part of the intake manifold that would require this "bump-up" on the plate, or can I just fabricate same out of a small piece of steel plate? Appreciate your help.

To be honest, I'm not sure since I have a 67 and don't have that issue.
 
Jaguar Intake manifold / mod

Basil: Appreciate your feedback. Anyone else have a lead on a "blanking plate" in place of the heater tube connection to the intake manifold on a 68 E type 4.2 l engine. Will a flat piece of steel work or is a "domed" fitting needed. Tnx. John /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thirsty.gif

Beautiful Jags bullitt.....are they black or dark green? I've always liked the darker colors on the XK8...but beggars can't be choosers so i've learned to live with the silver.
