I’ve owned my ‘62 TR3 since 1976. I’ve added a TR4 transmission and then added the overdrive. No one ever greased the steering so 15 years ago I couldn’t get it inspected. Work issues kept me from addressing the problem and the engine locked up from sitting.
I rebuilt the engine and am slowly attacking all of the problems that sitting caused. So please be patient with me as I get my 3 back on the road!!!

Question 1 of ???:smile:
I rebuilt my generator because it , along with everything else, was sitting FOREVER. Now that it's back together, it seems like it spins too hard. I have my parts car generator and it doesn't take the same effort to spin. Did I screw something up? There is the "oil" imprint on the center of the front end. Might that be why and what oil should I use?
 
When you say you rebuilt your generator what was involved?
New bearings, brushes and seals?
Did you torque the case bolts?
Were you able to verify the integrity of the magnets in the case?
I think that oil port should need only normal machine oil, but I'm not an expert.
 
I cleaned EVERYTHING and installed new brushes.
I do not know how to verify the integrity of the magnets. Everything was fine when I parked it and I've never put many miles on it . The old brushes were new looking!
