coltross here from Eastern Washington State with a '59 TR3A. I've had it for 10+ years but never performed my own maintenance. Now, with retirement, the adventure/challenge is mine. I was a fair maintenance guy when the cars were much simpler. This car hasn't run in a year plus. It turns over fine and sparks with a shot of starter fluid, but won't run. I'm manualed up and looking for a member who can provide a start to troubleshooting. Thank you

welcome aboard. Follow the Triumph forum below for more advise. Check fuel, if smells bad, clean tank, pump and carbs. Don't run bad fuel thru carbs or engine. Since it fires but doesn't run, ignition is hot. Might clean points and make sure dizzy is dry and clean inside. Follow fuel system in manual.

Drain any and all gas from tank get two fuel filters( clear ) replace one on car and replace second filter after you complete your problem add a full can of SEAFOAM gas additive to full tank of middle grade gas well ten gal is good. Add oil to carbs as per manual 5W plus. It may take a long min to fuel system lines carbs etc. Crack the fuel line to check fuel pump. carb floats may be stuck and flood carbs. have a fire ex close. After it runs check all fuel hoses for leaks & clamps They may need to be replaced as they were not new when car was parked. After car runs check temp as thermostat may be stuck also and low on water Anti mix.

Motors need three things compression and air, spark, fuel. you had two of three you are well on your way.

When you have the motor sorted out remember to go over the brakes and tires. The Tires are probable shot if it has been 10 years since it ran last. Suck the brake fluid out of the reservoir and re fill it then flush the new fluid through the system. Do not be surprised if the clutch friction disk has frozen to the flywheel.

Good luck and post in the Triumph section. Plenty of people to guide through the reawakening process.
