Hi,
My name is Ian and I live in Australia. Been involved with British cars since I could pass spanners to my father - as I'm now retired you can guess how long that is.
Learnt to drive on a Morris 1000 and my first car was a Triumph Herald - 948cc of raw power with twin 1 1/8" SU's. Back in 1973 I bought a TR4 and did a bit of club motor racing. Always one for long road trips in 1974 a friend and I took the TR for a round Australia trip 11,000 miles in 28 days with a lot of unsealed road. After some repairs and a respray I stuck with club sport till 78, when I decided to travel overseas.
That's a story in itself 9 months to the UK via New Zealand and South America. Returned to Australia after 7 years and put the TR back on the road - but not for too long as family life got in the way and you can only have the driver and one baby seat in a TR.
So off the road again for 30 years till I retired and have the time to get it sorted again. Mechanically still good but the already tired seats and trim have succumbed to time and rodents and the paint and rubbers need work.
Just finished re-doing the seats with a kit from Skinners UK and it was looking at radio installs that I came across this Forum.
While there are Triumph groups over here, I guess its because most of the TR's went to the US that there seems to be more forums and information available from there. Just a pity that postage from the US is so expensive as I found a radio bracket for only $25 but another $38 for postage - looks like I'll make my own.
Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian and welcome to the British Car Forum. Sounds like you’re on your way to getting the TR back on the road. You will find plenty of friendly help here. Start posting your questions in the Triumph section and post some pics of your car.
Also check out the “Pub” section of the forum for some light chatter.
When I was in AU a couple of months ago I kept wishing I had my TR6 to drive on the Great Ocean Road.
