Hello everyone, My name is Bob and I am just getting into the British Car arena, for about 5 months now. My grandfather purchased a 1963 AH 3000 Mk II (BJ7) as sort of a retirement gift to himself as he retired from the air force. My uncle was 10 at the time of purchase and after my grandfather passed away in 1969 he became the owner. Last summer he passed the car to me with the intent that I restore it to as much as original as possible. So, I am learning as I go and will have a bunch of questions going forward and look forward to any assistance I can get.

Thanks

Bob - welcome to BCF. Sorry it's taken so long for you to get a reply.

You might want to post AH questions - and some photos! - in the BCF Healey forum area:

Lucky man to be able to keep your AH in the family since new.

welcome - and you are in the right place for questions.

Here are a couple pictures. The first is from where the car has been sitting in Florida for the past 30 years or so. It took about 3 1/2 months to get it disassembled which the second picture shows. The final pic is the clean structure after a chemical bath.

Down to the basics now. Before you paint you might decide if you want to reinforce the engine mount boxes.

You are correct. But I also need to determine what engine will be used. It seems the original engine (2.9) was replaced with a 2.6 L and enlarged to a 2.9 which caused a catastrophic failure between the combustion chamber and water jacket. Any ideas on where to find a replacement 2.9L otherwise I may be looking at a small block V8.
