Hi, I'm new member RG. I have just purchased a 1965 MGB Mk1 pulled handled roadster. I owned one in 1970 and loved it and always wanted to get another. I also owned a 1965 MG midget that I purchased new for $2500. Right next to it on the showroom floor was an Austin Healey 3000 for $4800....if I only knew...that was a pile of money then. I plan to make my MGB right slowly. This years project was to install a new five speed transmission which is in progress now...they have my B hostage. Our local club had our first outing last weekend. We toured the Moss wharehouse in Petersbu1rg, Va and then had lunch at a British Pub. They let everyone who drove a British car park inside the warehouse. As my wife and I were leaving late and most of the British cars were gone, we noticed oil spots all over the warehouse floor were they had been parked. We had a great laught...welcome to British car ownership.

Welcome aboard. Good thing you passed on that Healey, talk about price gouging. I have the original bill of sale for my '67 and it was $3726 out the door. That included extra charges like a heater, seatbelts, white walls and a tonneau cover.

Welcome!Hopefully I'll get to meet you
at the British Car Meet in Williamsburg on
May 2nd.

Doug, I will definitely meet you there. I am in the show(my 1st one) but my MGB is not up to snuff yet. I plan to do one big renovation every winter until I get it right. California is a long ways from Virgina.

Greg, I think is was $4800 but that was a long time ago. Maybe they were more expensive in Virgina. My wife at the time had a 1961 Alfa Guilette Spider which she traded in for $200 on a Mustang. The Alfa would only start after 3PM. It was Italian and liked things warm. I wish we had kept that car like you kept yours...could've, should've!!!!!

PS...we sold the Mustang too.
