I bought TS41723L in 1962. I owned a 51 TD MG and a 47 Chrysler Highlander. My boss sent me to downtown Los Angeles frequently to do messenger work because I was the most junior person in our engineering department, My 47 Chrysler was like docking the Queen Mary whenever I parallel parked it. Then my boss, Russ Green lent me his 59 TR3. What a revelation. From that moment on, I drove the TR anytime I had to go downtown. I looked for excuses to run downtown! It took me a while to learn the difference between the tach and the speedo.I once thought I was cruising through a residential area at 30 mph because the tach said 30 and I was going much faster (although I was likely in some lower gear) if I was driving 60. Then Russ called me one day from the Trumph dealer and asked me if I wanted to buy it as he was getting a new TR4 with rollup windows. I could not afford it but when the price came down to $400,I quick got a loan and bought it, The car has been restored twice and repainted several times. Russ and his wife had driven it to Mexico City and Chicago, I took it to San Diego monthly with two toddlers in the back seat. It's been a good reliable car. I am currently working on the dash wiring which has suffered from the addition of radios at two different times as well as an electric fan. I removed the main plate and stripped the paint because ot had a couple of ugly scratches plus I want to make sure I have all the wiring sorted outi assembled , then I'll remove all the wiring gaiges etcand paint it before I do finall assembly. My task right now is to cut out all the wires I've added and replace with the correctly color coded wire all the nome made wires, I have made a sort of a table of a cardboard box to lay the plate on to work,.
