Hello everyone, have just registered.
I have two cars, on Brit one Yank.

Had been looking for an old british car, an Alvis was my preference.
The alternative was a Ford Crown Victoria, Police Interceptor model.
After searching for about 9 months an intertesting car appeared, A 1996 Lincoln Continental and was eventually sold at a very low price.
I decided to contact the seller, and he told me it never sold. The guys misses took one look at it and said "Your not parking that Monster on the drive!".
A quick run up to Manchester and saw that it was a solid motor, and very nice too. Luxury leather seats. 4.6l V8 32v DOHC. Air ride suspension.
Seller tried to bump the price by over ÂŁ2k, but I stuck at the previous Ebay selling price, and it was on its way back to Notts.

However there was a Problem, we measured the car and had already cleared out the garage to accomodate a prospective purchase.
We went wrong somewhere as the Lincoln would not fit in the garage? This left me with a problem, an empty garage!

Still searching Ebay, I came across the Alvis TA14 at a reasonable price. I suspected it was another Ebay motor scam. so did not take any action.
This was quickly confirmed when the listing quickly dissapeared. However I did make contact with the seller ready for the scam line.
It turned out to be a genuine car which the seller was willing to sell. Another run over to Matlock, and the car was purchased.

The Alvis squeezed alongside the Lincoln, on the drive.

Look forward to contributing to the Forum

Welcome the the British Car forum mick2me. I love the Florida license plate on your new Lincoln... the neighbors will think your a yank :D

Thank you Gliderman8
I have a new number to put on with a California sunshine Plate on front and Calfornia 'lipstick' text on rear.

Welcome! Your story about the Continental reminds me of the time I
bought a '72 Buick LeSabre (with a 455!).When I got it home,I wondered
to myself "Will it fit in the garage?".
It did, with about 5" to spare.

Thanks AngliaGT, the main problem was the mirrors that dont fold back.
I even replaced the up and over door with a Roller shutter, and removed the wooden frame which gave me about 3 inches more.

Hello Mick2me

Welcome to the forum.

I remember the garage I had in England. Had to almost scrape the passenger side on one wall and only had enough room to squeeze out of the car.

What year is the Alvis?

David

The Alvis TA14 is 1949.

Garages in the UK unlike the US are often not big enough to accomodate a normal sized car.
Usually used to store stuff or convert to another room.
