This is what I bought:

Pictures really doesnt do it justice. Since you really cant tell much from the pictures, I actually expected the car to be much worse. But its in much better shape, and even though he said it came with all new carpet and door cards, he installed a bunch of stuff on the car that the pics show missing. And the dash is just beautiful, not at all what the pics looked like.

The amount of extras I got, I could sell and make a profit. But I wont, and in fact, he was a little afraid that I may flip this car (sellers terms, not drivers) I think they felt a lot better knowing that I would fix it up to keep and drive.

The owner was moving the GA to go to school, which was why he had to sell. His other brother had a beautiful GT6 MKIII and while this one is white with a blue stripe, his was blue with a white stripe... ..kinda cool brotherhood deal

They said I needed to replace the fluids and such, but he had already cleaned the tank and bought a new sender for it, and when I checked the oil, it appeared new. Of course it could be new oil that had sat for years so I'll still change it

The story his dad gave me was there was this guy in AZ who started buying up all these british cars and storing them. Well, at 80yo he had a stroke, and his collection was sold. A friend of theres told them about it, and this little car was one of the ones left. So its kinda like a "barn find" (not sure where they actually store it.

First day of ownership, while refueling halfway from home, an elderly couple drove up to compliment me on the car. Another person, a brit, complimented me on how cool the car was, and we had a long discussion about cars. Another person rode his bike all the way to the car, gave it a good looking over before riding back. This was all in just a few hours of each other.

What I think is awesome is the fact that I am able to push this car. I pushed it past several houses! Im a 115lbs girl and have never been able to push a car. I was able to push this and not even break a sweat.

Pretty much the only rust issues are what he took pictures of. For its age, its really not much. We're going to go ahead and do a frame off restoration anyway though so that the car will last another 42 years.

Theres a lot of interesting things on this car. A ton of original parts, including everything lucas. But we're not going to even attempt what works and what doesnt. We're going to rip out all the wiring and rewire everything ourselves. It came with part of a back seat Dont know if thats original though, but seems to fit the car. Its just a shame I dont have the other part. Though white, the car originally was british racing green with black vinyl interior. It will eventually be sonic blue (which if you google images for "sonic blue mustang" you'll see what Im talking about. I think the chrome will just pop with this color.

Hi, UmmYeahOk, and welcome to the Forum. Looks like you've got a good starting point - what were you doing pushing it??? :savewave:

Its a long story, but basically the short version is that the only truck Uhaul would let us rent was a 26' moving truck, which pulled a trailer. (they wont let you rent pickups for one way travel, and everything else was "reserved") So we had this gigantic vehicle which considering how big semis are, probably deserves more than a class C license.

The road was very narrow, despite being big enough for two vehicles. And with low branch trees and people parking on the street we basically unloaded the car far from the house. Since the car was in the middle of the road, it needed to be moved out of the way. My husband went to park the gigantic moving van elsewhere, and while waiting for him, since he'd need me to steer anyway, I went ahead to see if I could do it myself. I was surprised at just how easy it was.

Yep, you can push most LBCs pretty easily by yourself - They'll also roll away from you pretty fast too - don't ask me how I know........ :yesnod:

Havent experienced that yet luckily. I have heard some horror stories from people who arent familiar with manuals. And this car doesnt have brakes for some reason. At least its light enough that it wont run over the person trying to slow it down.

Just finished replacing the brakes and hydralics on my Bugeye. Never did that before, but the Forum is a great place to get questions answered, and plenty of help when you need it.

I wouldn't suggest testing the theory that your car won't run over you!!

Welcome aboard!

Glad to see another LBC bein' pulled from the edge of oblivion.

Congrats.

I've had all three versions of the GT6. One of my favorite cars, period. The rust you show is easy to fix. If you have any questions, feel free to message me, I'll give you all the knowledge I have. I'm down in Austin, so if you have time, come down to Texas All British Motor Days later this month in Round Rock. Congratulations on a great, fun new car.

Welcome! Your car sounds great. You'll have to post some pictures for us soon. We like pictures!
I hope that you don't have to get too used to pushing it!

Welcome aboard! this is a great place to get help, lots of friendly people with a lot of great advice! You'll love your GT6, they're great cars. My second LBC was a GT6. I drove it as my daily driver for many years, thru college and long afterwards. They're fun cars and very easy to work on.

Yes, they are very light to push. I found that out not long after I got mine and found out the hard way that the gas gauge was...well, let's just say not quite accurate...It said I had a quarter tank of gas when I ran out so I had to push it two blocks to get it out of a dangerous stretch of road.

Love little GT6's...have owned (& sold) 3...would love to hear the entire story of that trip!
