Greetings British car enthusiasts,

My name is Jim and here endeth my lurking because I’ve signed on as a member. I’ve visited here on numerous occasions because owning a Big Healey almost “takes a village” to lessen the surprises and keep it running. And BCF is that village!

I am the second and fourth owner (long story involving lawyers and former wife) of a Healey blue BJ7 (#22623) that I purchased used from our former Minneapolis BMC dealer, B & K Imports, in September, 1965. I quite fancied myself Joe Cool starting my junior year at the UofM with the car of my dreams. And it even had roll up windows and a convertible top. Hard to believe that was my daily driver back then hauling concrete blocks for “brick & board” bookcases.

For the past 43 years, this idiosyncratic but wonderful automobile has been the one constant in my life. Yes, it has oftentimes been a love-hate relationship, like when the left rear wheel spun itself off or the time during a -35F Minnesota winter when both upper-arm front shocks pealed off their respective shock towers. But time, temperament and attentive maintenance/restoration have mellowed us both. The familiar creaks and squeaks of the car are now answered by my own creaks and groans as I contort getting in for each new motoring experience.

I will admit to being something of a techno-peasant when it comes to postings, chat-rooms and netiquette but I will do my best to be a worthy member of this community and keeper of the Austin Healey Marque.

Clicking on https://mnhealey.com/mnhealey/Gallery/images/James%20Kriz.jpg will show you, via the Minnesota Austin Healey Club website, a little of what I speak.

Happy to be here and best wishes to you all.

Welcome aboard Jim (or is that Joe?). Nice looking Healey considering the elements it must have endured during the cold months. Actually, it looks good even if the car lived in California all its life.
