Greetings, fellow LBC fans. I started down this slippery slope about 25 years ago with a '69 MGB-GT. I now have a '57 TR3, '72 Triumph Spitfire (my son's daily driver), '74.5 MGB-GT (my daughter's daily driver), '87 Jag XJ6 and an'04 MINI. Needless to say, Moss Motors and the Roadster Factory are on speed dial! Living in Arizona we don't really have a hibernation period for our cars, although old, open cars aren't much fun when it's 115 degrees so our local activities become less frequent in the summer. I've enjoyed reading the posts on this site, and figured it's time to introduce myself and start to be more interactive.
I suppose my real interest is my TR3. It's not really even a '57... more of a Heinz 57. It's a "small mouth" '60 TR3A with many earlier styling cues, so calling it a '57 prompts fewer confused questions. I'm not a purist, in that I feel that any modification to MY car that makes it more usable/fun for ME is OK. It's "apple green" with a tan interior, alloy sebring-style wheels, rack and pinion steering conversion, 2188cc pistons, Toyota 5-speed conversion (thank you Bill Close!) and other such "upgrades". Since it's "restoration" in 2004 it's covered about 28,000 miles, including a trip from here (outside Phoenix) to Branson, MO for the '04 TRA nationals, Triumphests in San Diego, Buelton, and Laughlin and a summer vacation to Tahoe and down through central California.
Most of those trips were with 4.11 gears and before the 5-speed conversion! Somehow I've convinced my long-suffering wife that driving it to the TRA Nat's this summer (in West Virginia) would be a fun adventure, so we'll be meeting some of you right-coast enthusiasts (if we succeed in getting there)!
