Hi,
I inherited this 1959 TR3 from a dear friend who passed away in 2008, and it's been sitting in my garage ever since.
I grabbed eveything that looked like Triumph parts but I missed a few coffee cans of odds and ends.
The Engine has been opened up for 16 years, nned some guidance on what I should do regarding the cylinder head,
Best place to have the head rebuilt/resurfaced somewhat locally to New England.
I'd like to get it started and moving before continuing on the restoration.
Regards,

Hi O - welcome to BCF.

Have you ever done any car restoration before? or engine rebuilds?

If not, you might want to check some Boston area car clubs for recommendations to get your TR back on the road.

Some possibilities:

Hi
I've been a backyard mechanic maintaining my own cars since 1970, I've done Timing Belts and Head gaskets but that's as deep I've ever been into an engine. I know it's a daunting task, espesically since I didn't take it apart, I've been going thru the parts trying to identify them if they're triumph or if it came off a 53 Oldsmobile... Alex was a mechanical engineer and repair central for anyone of his 100's of friends that needed something fixed on their jalopy. Here's a picture of Alex in his glory.

Alex had the head rebuilt but then got sick before reassembling it, New seats and probably valve guides. He thought the Block was OK.
I do also no visible scoring on the sleeves, but a fair amount of carbon buildup.
I'm hoping a deep cleaning in a vapor chamber will restore this head to good shape. The Valve train side is entirely encrusted with rust similiar to the exhuast, so the rookie in me thinks it probably OK to have some rust up there which will be coated in oil... but if vapor phase can clean it down to bare metal than thats great. I'm thinking I can get this back to a driver quality car for less than 10K?
