The fire that was close to us is now under control, thanks to four days of steady rain, including a day-long deluge yesterday. The massive fire in the southern end is still out of control, and has actually grown during the rains, partly because our air support is grounded. In addition to us, both Ontario and especially Quebec are now battling blazes. The government just announced a projected hot and arid summer, so things are likely to get worse for both of us before it gets better. Luckily, our fire season is the off-season for the Southern Hemisphere, so we're doing deals to fly in their firefighters to fill the gaps. The South Africans arrived yesterday.
