Hello everyone. I'm in Southern California with a 74 Lotus Elite, revived after being mothballed since 89. About 37K miles, with nothing seriously wrong with the drivetrain except some sketchy threads in a spark plug hole and a balky third gear (I know, small complaints).
Because I'm outside the government radar with no emissions equipment on the engine except for some vacuum tubing on the carbs, I've decided to try to do with this car what I've wanted to do since a teenager--bolt on a bunch of cool aftermarket go-fast parts. Purists will cringe from this point forward.
What I really want to know, and the main reason I'm posting, is whether any of you have hands-on experience installing a small supercharger on the 907 engine, whether the Elite, Eclat, Esprit or Jensen. I've found two images of this on Jensen sites, both apparently a small Camden blower between a single carb and a custom intake, with no other gizmos apparent except for an upgraded fuel pump.
I'm prepared to try this myself, and I'd welcome any advice. The engine will remain stock for now, so I know that I'll be restricted to low boost. I have an extra head for the inevitable, explosive conclusion once I start down this road.
And someday, life willing and money to burn, I'll show up at a vintage racing club.
Anyway, good to be here.
